Funding your account with Australian dollars (AUD) is the first step toward building your portfolio. Coinstash offers several ways to deposit AUD, and bank transfers and PayID are fee-free on our end. This guide covers how to deposit, the rules your deposit must meet, and how long it usually takes.
Before you start
Account tier: Your account must be at least Tier 1 verified to deposit AUD. See What are Account Verification Tiers?
A bank account in your own name: The account you send from must exactly match the name on your Coinstash account (see the compliance rules below).
Your banking app or online banking: Coinstash never pulls money from your bank. You send (push) the payment yourself.
How to deposit AUD
Step 1 – Start your deposit
Tap or click the Deposit button, select AUD, then press Next.
Step 2 – Choose your method
PayID (fastest for most people): Click the PayID box to see your unique PayID email address. PayID deposits are processed automatically once your bank sends them, with no further action needed from you. No description or reference is required. Your unique email address is what links the payment to your account.
Bank transfer (Osko): You'll be shown a unique BSB and account number. These details belong to your Coinstash account, so simply copy them into your banking app to send funds.
Step 3 – Complete the transfer
Open your online banking and send the amount you'd like to deposit to the PayID or BSB and account number shown in Coinstash.
Need help finding PayID in your banking app? Follow our step-by-step guides for Commonwealth Bank, ING, NAB, St George and Westpac.
Prefer to pay by card? Card deposits are also available, with a processing fee charged by the card processor. See How to deposit AUD via card.
Important compliance rules
Name matching: The bank account you send funds from must exactly match the name on your Coinstash account. We can't accept third-party deposits (for example, from a friend, family member or business partner).
Joint accounts: We do accept deposits from joint accounts, provided your name is one of the legal owners. In some cases, our team may ask for a bank statement to verify this.
No direct debits: Coinstash will never "pull" funds from your bank account. You're always in control of "pushing" the funds from your bank to us.
Unsupported providers: Some payment services, such as Revolut, Wise and Airwallex, aren't accepted. See Which Payment Methods Are Not Accepted for Deposits?
When will my funds arrive?
Instant (Osko/PayID): Most deposits are processed via the New Payments Platform (NPP) and arrive within minutes, 24/7. However, some banks may place temporary holds on PayID transfers for additional security checks, which could delay a deposit by 1 to 2 business days.
Standard bank transfer: Depending on your bank's internal processing, it may take 1 to 2 business days.
First-time hold: Many Australian banks place a 24-hour security hold on your very first deposit to a crypto exchange. This is a bank-side safety measure and is outside Coinstash's control.

Pro tip: check your tier and limits
To deposit AUD, your account must be at least Tier 1 verified. New accounts start with a $20,000 daily limit. If you're planning a larger move, upgrade to Tier 3 to raise your daily limit to $100,000. See Upgrading to Tier 3: Increasing Your Limits. For the full breakdown of limits at each tier, see What are Account Verification Tiers?
Troubleshooting
"Invalid BSB" errors
Some customers see an "invalid BSB" error when trying to transfer funds. This can happen because of:
Bank-specific restrictions: Certain banks, such as Macquarie Bank, may not support transfers to cryptocurrency platforms. In that case, consider using a different banking provider. Customers have reported successful transfers using banks like NAB, ANZ, Bendigo Bank, Heritage Bank and St George. Before switching, confirm with the new bank that they support transfers to cryptocurrency exchanges.
BSB formatting: Some banks reject BSBs that include a dash. If the BSB is displayed as
257-190, enter it as257190instead. Make sure the rest of the details, such as the account name and number, are entered exactly as shown in Coinstash.
My deposit hasn't arrived
Check whether the payment shows as "Pending" in your banking app. If it does, your bank hasn't released it yet. Remember that first-time deposits and some PayID transfers can be held by your bank. See Why is my AUD Deposit Delayed?
I sent money from someone else's account by mistake
Contact our support team. Third-party deposits can't be credited to your account and will need to be returned to the account they came from.
SMSF and company deposits
If you want to transfer superannuation funds to Coinstash, you must set up a Coinstash SMSF account. The process is similar, but the SMSF trustee or company name must match the details provided by Coinstash. See How to Open Your Coinstash SMSF Account.
Depositing from a company bank account? See Depositing AUD into Your Coinstash Company Account.
Withdrawals
To transfer funds out of Coinstash, use the Withdraw option and follow the steps. Withdrawals must go to a linked bank account in your name. Please note that PayID is only available for deposits and can't be used for withdrawals. See Withdrawing AUD to Your Bank Account.
