PayID is the quickest way to add Australian dollars (AUD) to your Coinstash account. This guide shows you where to find your unique Coinstash PayID email address, then walks you through sending a payment in the Westpac mobile banking app, screen by screen.
Before you start
Account tier: Your Coinstash account must be at least Tier 1 verified to deposit AUD. See What are Account Verification Tiers?
An account in your own name: The name on your bank account must match the name registered to your Coinstash account. Third-party deposits (from a bank account in a different name) will flag your account for review.
Your unique Coinstash PayID email address: Every Coinstash account has its own PayID email address. You'll copy it from Coinstash in Step 1 below.
No description or reference needed: We've changed our PayID method so a payment description is no longer required. Your unique email address is what links the payment to your account.
Step 1 – Find your unique Coinstash PayID email address
Open Coinstash and tap Quick Deposit or Deposit AUD. Your unique Coinstash PayID email address is shown on the deposit screen. Copy it so it's ready to paste into your banking app.
The email address in the screenshot is a sample only. Each member has their own unique PayID email address, so always use the one shown in your own Coinstash account.
Step 2 – Send the payment in the Westpac app
1. Tap Pay
Select the Pay icon in the bottom menu.
2. Choose the account to pay from
Under From, tap Choose an account and select the bank account you want to pay Coinstash from.
3. Choose a payee
Under To, tap Choose a payee or biller.
4. Add a new payee
Select the + Add icon to add a new payee.
5. Choose New PayID/Mobile payee
Select New PayID/Mobile payee.
6. Select Email address
Select Email address.
7. Paste your Coinstash PayID email address
Paste the unique Coinstash PayID email address you copied in Step 1. Pasting (rather than typing) helps avoid typos.
8. Check the payee details
Check the payee details, then tap Next.
9. Enter the amount
Under Payment details, enter the AUD amount you want to deposit, then tap Next and follow the prompts in the Westpac app to confirm the payment.
What happens next
Usually within seconds: When the PayID payment is complete, your Coinstash balance updates in real time. Wait a few seconds and your AUD balance will appear. There's nothing else you need to do.
First deposit hold: Many Australian banks place a security hold on your very first payment to a crypto exchange. Some banks may also place temporary holds on PayID transfers for extra security checks, which can delay a deposit by 1 to 2 business days. These holds are set by your bank and are outside Coinstash's control.
Next time is quicker: Once your Coinstash PayID is saved as a payee in your banking app, you can select it next time instead of adding it again.
⚠️ Important
Only pay the PayID shown in your own Coinstash account. If anyone else gives you a PayID or bank details and asks you to "deposit to Coinstash", stop and contact us first. Learn how to spot a scam.
Name matching matters. Payments from a bank account in someone else's name (a friend, family member or business) will flag your account for review.
PayID is for deposits only. To withdraw AUD, see Withdrawing AUD to Your Bank Account.
Troubleshooting
My AUD balance hasn't updated. Check whether the payment shows as "Pending" in your banking app. If it does, your bank hasn't released it yet. See Why is my AUD Deposit Delayed?
The PayID wasn't found or the payee couldn't be added. Copy the email address again from your Coinstash account and paste it, making sure there are no extra spaces before or after it.
My bank blocked the payment. Some banks restrict payments to crypto exchanges. Contact your bank, or try a bank transfer using the BSB and account number shown in your Coinstash deposit screen. See Depositing AUD into Your Coinstash Account.
