We know how important it is for your money to arrive on time. If an AUD deposit hasn't appeared in your Coinstash balance yet, this guide explains the most common reasons and what you can do about each one.
Quick checks
Check your banking app. If the payment shows as "Pending", your bank hasn't cleared the funds yet. AUD deposits are credited to your Coinstash account only after the sending bank clears them.
Check the details you used. Make sure you sent the payment to the unique PayID email address, or the BSB and account number, shown in your own Coinstash account.
Check the account name. The bank account you paid from must be in the same name as your Coinstash account. Third-party deposits can't be accepted.
Check the day. Deposits made on weekends or public holidays may not be processed until the next business day.
Common reasons for AUD deposit delays
1. Bank processing times
Banks typically verify and clear transactions before they're reflected in your Coinstash account. If your online banking shows the transaction as "Pending", the funds haven't been cleared by your bank yet. Standard bank transfers may take up to a few days to clear, depending on your bank's processes. Once cleared, the funds are promptly credited to your Coinstash account.
2. Weekends and public holidays
Deposits made on weekends or public holidays may be delayed because of reduced banking hours or non-operational days. Transactions started during these times may not be processed until the next business day.
3. Payment method
Different payment methods have different processing times. Some bank transfers take longer than instant methods like PayID. PayID transfers are generally instant, but in some cases there may be delays of up to 1–2 days because of temporary holds placed by banks for security checks.
4. Verification checks
Coinstash may run additional verification checks to keep transactions secure and prevent fraud. Our automated processing system may flag certain transactions for further review. If a deposit is flagged, it may need a manual compliance check, which can extend the processing time even after the initial review is complete.
Waiting on a crypto withdrawal instead? If a crypto withdrawal is pending without a blockchain transaction ID (TXID), it's likely undergoing a compliance review. Once that's complete, the withdrawal proceeds instantly. See Why is my withdrawal pending verification?
5. Daily deposit limits
If an AUD deposit is more than your daily limit, the remainder carries over to the following day. For example, if your limit is $20,000 and you deposit $30,000, you'll be credited $20,000 on day 1 and $10,000 on day 2. Daily limits reset at 10:00am Brisbane time (AEST). Understanding PayID delays
Your first PayID payment
Your first PayID transaction might take up to 1–2 days to clear. This initial delay usually comes from security checks and verification processes held by your bank to confirm the payment is legitimate. Many Australian banks also place a security hold on your very first deposit to a crypto exchange. This is a bank-side measure and is outside Coinstash's control.
Later PayID payments
Once your first PayID payment has been verified, future PayID payments should clear instantly. However, occasional delays of up to 1–2 days can still happen if your bank places a temporary hold for additional security checks.
What you can do
Confirm with your bank whether the funds have cleared, or whether there's a security check or hold on the payment.
Double-check the transfer details to make sure they're accurate.
Allow time for any Coinstash compliance review to finish, if relevant.
