A coin-to-coin swap lets you exchange one cryptocurrency directly for another, for example BTC for ETH, without selling to AUD first. This guide walks you through each screen in the Coinstash app.
Before you start
Hold the coin you want to swap: The coin you're swapping from needs to be in your Coinstash Portfolio.
Fees: The Coinstash trade fee applies to swaps, just like buys and sells, and is calculated on the value of the trade. See What is the Trade Fee?
Step-by-step: swapping crypto
Step 1 – Select the coin you want to swap
Once logged in, you'll see a list of available cryptocurrencies. Select the cryptocurrency you want to swap.
Step 2 – Tap Swap
Look for the Swap option and tap it.
Step 3 – Choose the amount and the coin you want
Enter the amount of cryptocurrency you'd like to swap, and choose the cryptocurrency you want to receive. Then tap Preview Swap to check the details of your trade.
Step 4 – Review and swipe to confirm
Double-check the trade details, including both cryptocurrencies and the amounts. When you're happy, swipe to confirm the swap.
Step 5 – Swap complete
Once the swap is successful, you'll see a confirmation in the app, and the new coin appears in your Portfolio.
⚠️ Good to know
Prices move. The rate you see on the preview screen reflects the market at that moment. For smaller or less-traded coins, the final rate can differ slightly. See Slippage and liquidity explained.
Swapping isn't sending. A swap happens within your Coinstash account, so you don't need a wallet address. To move crypto out of Coinstash, see How to Withdraw Cryptocurrency from Coinstash.
Troubleshooting
I can't find the coin I want to swap into. The coin may not be listed or may be temporarily unavailable. See What coins are listed on Coinstash?
I'd rather receive AUD. Sell instead of swapping. See How do I sell Cryptocurrency?
Where can I see my swap? Your completed trades, including the trade fee, appear in your Trade History.
