How do I Grant Third Party Authority?

How to authorise another person or organisation to access or transact on your Coinstash account using the Third Party Authority form, and what to consider first.

This article explains how to give another person or organisation authority over your Coinstash account, and what you should think about before you do.

What is Third Party Authority?

Third Party Authority means authorising an external individual or organisation to act on someone else's behalf in specific matters.

If you want to give another person access to your account, or permission to transact on your behalf, Coinstash requires a completed Third Party Authority form. The person you authorise is called the Additional Authority.

Only need your accountant to see your account?

You don't need this form for that. Instead, invite them to the Adviser Portal for secure, view-only access. They won't be able to trade or move funds. See How do I invite my accountant or financial advisor?

How to grant Third Party Authority

Step 1 – Download the form

Step 2 – Complete the form

Fill in the form. The Additional Authority must sign the Additional Authority declaration in the form.

Step 3 – Send it to us

Return the completed form to Coinstash. If you're not sure how to submit it, contact our support team.

Step 4 – ID verification

The Additional Authority must complete ID verification for their Coinstash account. If they don't already have a Coinstash account, one will be created for them once the form has been processed.

How long does it take?

We aim to process all Third Party Authority requests within two business days.

⚠️ Important — things to consider

  • Full access means full control. Granting full account access allows the Additional Authority to withdraw funds and trade on your account. Crypto withdrawals can't be reversed once they're sent on the blockchain, so only authorise someone you trust completely.

  • Never grant authority because someone pressured you. Be wary if a new online contact, "investment manager" or "support agent" asks you to give them access to your account. Learn how to spot a scam.

  • Acting for someone who has passed away? A different process applies. See Accessing a Deceased Estate Account on Coinstash.

FAQ

Does the Additional Authority need their own Coinstash account? If they don't have one, an account will be created for them once the form is processed. They'll need to complete ID verification.
